The brick chedi of Chiengsaen's Wat Pasak, probably built in 1295, bas niches around the base and the upper tier to hold standing Buddha images.

The city of Wiang Kungam was built by King Mengrai a few years before he built Chiang Mai, on the opposite side of the river in the modern village of Sarapi. Recent excavations have revealed a number of temples, which testify to his intention to establish himself on the site, which he had to abandon short i after its foundation for strategical reasons.

Wat Chedi Chet Yod in Chiang Mai was built by King Tilokaraja to bouse the world buddhist council held to celebrate the 2000th anniversary of Buddha's death. The unusual shape of the chedi is inspired by the temple of Bodgaya in India, probably through Mon replicas seen in Burma.
